Hemp And Its Uses
Hemp is known for its industrial uses. It's present in everything from moisturizer to bed sheets. And no, it's not possible to get high off hemp or any of its byproducts. The THC content is way too low for that happen, plus it's processed and broken down into different components.
There is plenty of confusion surrounding hemp. People often mistake it as marijuana, or the recreational drug "weed." Here we break down what hemp oil really is and how to use it.
Hemp, the plant
Hemp, or "industrial hemp", is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant species. It is grown particularly for the industrial uses of its derived products and is beneficial to manufacturers because of the byproduct it can produce.
Cannabis sativa is indigenous to eastern Asia but now experiences international distribution due to extensive cultivation. It has been cultivated throughout history, used as a source of industrial fibre material, food, oil, religious and spiritual moods, and medicine.
Hemp seeds
These small brown seeds are where hemp oils come from. They are packed with all kinds of nutrients from protein to fibre and omega-3s.
Hemp Oil
Pure hemp oil, unlike industrial hemp oil, can be ingested. It is often used as an alternative to vegetable oil or salad dressing. It doesn't taste half-bad either! Hemp oil has a somewhat grassy, almost nutty after taste to it. Hempseed oil is used in the production of many different types of cosmetic products, such as moisturizer, soaps, and salves.
